midwestern winter
mother nature sadly smiles
global warming change
(50's one week- major snowstorm the next- bck to the 50's to melt the stuff....)

the alarm clock rings
her feet hit the floor
another day of pounding pavement (and head and heart)
she dresses for the day
in a well-worn cloak - (an invisibility cloak at times)
of insecurities, self-doubt,and criticism-
she wears it well...
she hears, "You're beautiful" "You are so strong" "You are so passionate"
but it's always directed to the ones around her- not to her
never to her...
she feels invisible
but she knows she's not
because the pain is real and it hurts- a lot!
she desperately wants to be the Center of Anything
to hear those words, confident as they reign down on her
but she can't and they aren't-
so all she can do is smile...
and pretend all is ok-
hoping Somebody will look beyond that smile
and notice that it's really not
and care.

Two very different treatments, and both excellent.
You guys surely are getting the snow this year. Not much here in VT, but we're hovering around 12 below.

I don't say those words yet, global warming, about our warm winter as there are too many oil people around here.
They get all rankled!
The second poem is very sad. I feel that a friendly smile would help her a lot even given her situation.

Hi Patti, What a difference between this winter and last. We were just about buried under mountains of snow last year at this time. This year, it feels like Spring all winter long ... Have a great week!
