Hollow

This week's OSI prompt is "hollow." Here is my haiku; please check out others' interpretations of the same prompt.

you think you're so rich~
all your things and possessions...
...a hollow lifestyle

your things are just that~
replace feelings and people
filling up your holes...

but what will you have
after all your holes are filled?
you will have nothing

You hit a very important point with your poetry. That hollow person is missing love.

Very apt, Patti. Back in my younger days I had the hots for a nice, very large for us, house in a new neighborhood.

The wise, womanly words were yes, we can afford to buy the house. But we can't afford to make it a home to keep up with the other Joneses in the hood.

Well stated. Nothing worse then a hollow person

and yes, some 'empty' things are only able to function, due to their holes, such as doors, glasses ... maybe a hollow person wil get filled up with love and hope again, some day. great writing of yours !
please have a good new week.

A filled hole is a leveling off, a nothing. This is a great poem.

Your poem speaks so vividly about why it's important to fill those holes with self-love first. Awesome!

Love only is the real treasure.
Nothing else can fill up the hollow.

Very clearly and beautifully expressed.

There are a lot of hollow people walking around. Most of them don't even know it. Excellent Patti!

Patti. How nice. Indeed, what you say in the poem is how reality is...

So so true nothing can replace friends and family not Anything!

Excellent point and beautifully written Patti. That's something we learn as we grow older if we're lucky. Jim said it perfectly. I've been happier living in less than I have been when I had more.

Thanks for stopping by to see me. Hugs...Tracy :)
