retreating into yourself
back into your self-imposed cocoon
once again shutting off the world
and its distractions and temptations.
what was once your reality for a little while
is no longer.
trying to re-form yourself
back into who you are supposed to be
rather than the elusive butterfly
you were able to be~
once upon a time...
The glory of your butterfly life
was a joy to behold
as you re-awakened, unfurled your colorful wings and flew free ~
flitting freely where You wanted to go
into all of the Possibilities unfolding in front of you...
your life, once devoid of color
was filled with an array of hues
passion-filled once more
experiencing all before you
as you lived the Poetry of Life
sampling all the joys the Garden held
enjoying ...if only for the briefest of times
until-
caught.
all that freedom came with a price
(but You knew that in your heart all along, didn't you)
taking these bittersweet butterfly dreams and poignant poetic memories
into your personal cocoon
to sustain you
until you can re-emerge once more

Oh how beautiful this is! I love where you've taken this prompt. Wonderful!
A beautifully woven poem this!
'all that freedom came with a price'
But then a freedom for which some price is to be paid.. can it really be called freedom.. you have very well narrated how one can perceive freedom and fall into a trap...
A cocoon can mean so much. And beautifully written.
Exquisite. Thanks for these nurturing words. We needed them!
how i wish i am a colorful butterfly with wings...so i can fly so freely and return to my cocoon of comfort whenever i am hurt and discouraged by the world around?
i could really relate to this beautiful poem dear!
Beautiful poem Patti ~
It was very reflective and made me think about where I am in life right now, am I in the cocoon, emerging, or living in color? We need all of those in our lives don't we?
Blessings to you ~ Katie
sometimes it takes time to re-emerge.
Such a tender piece.
The re-emergence is wonderful!
interesting words...!!
Hey Patti, this is soooooo pretty yet sad. Sometimes it really isn't the same you when back in the cocoon of safety, is it?
Sorry I'm so late in getting back here, my week was very busy and hectic.
..
